Most DUI investigations begin with a visual observation of a motorists’ driving pattern. Most times an officer cites speeding, running a red light, weaving or falling asleep behind the wheel at a traffic light. Sometimes the driving pattern that indicates a motorist is impaired is a little more obvious. Take the case of Ocala’s Michael Singletary. According to an Associated Press article on Bardenton.com the 26-year-old didn’t leave much room for doubt about his DUI when it came to his driving pattern.
Singletary reportedly nearly crashed into a deputy’s cruiser while driving on the wrong side of a divided highway. The officer reported that he had to swerve out of the way of Singletary’s car to avoid an traffic accident. He followed the man until he pulled off the road and into a grassy median. Upon getting out of his vehicle, the officer says Singletary fell to his knees, banged his head on the ground and began crying. He refused to take a breath test and was being held on $1000 bail.
