A South Carolina woman has been charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license following an accident with an unmarked St. Petersburg police car. According to TampaBay.com Lura Goldsmith turned left onto Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. street and right into the path of a Ford Crown Victoria with lights on and sirens going, which was driver by officer Gregory Shone.
Police reports state that the officer tried to swerve to avoid the traffic accident but Goldsmith’s Nissan hit the front of the police car. The officer and all three people in the Nissan driven by Goldsmith were taken to Bayfront Medical Center. Goldsmith’s two passengers were both from St. Petersburg and one was a 5-year-old. They were treated for minor injuries and released.
