Jennifer Staebell is experiencing the harshest scenario when it comes to getting behind the wheel of a vehicle and driving while intoxicated. The 37-year-old was convicted by a jury of DUI manslaughter and has now been sentenced to the maximum prison term, 15 years behind bars by a Marion County judge according to a story on the Bradenton Herald’s website.
The jail stems from a February 2008 incident when Staebell was driving with a mix of cocaine and prescription drugs in her system according to prosecutors. While under the influence she struck and killed a pedestrian named Robert Hill. Staebell’s attorney asked the judge to suspend her sentence so she could care for her two children but that request was not honored.
