Elyse Tirico looked like she was headed to jail following a violation of a pre-trial agreement. The 17-year-old is wearing an ankle bracelet under court order as she awaits trial on charges of DUI manslaughter and DUI with serious bodily injury. Thursday the teen was back in front of a Walton County judge for violating the terms of her pre-trial release according to an AP article in the Bradenton Herald.
Tirico is wearing an alcohol monitoring device that registered she had alcohol in her system on three separate occasions in July. Judge Kelvin Wells could have revoked her release but Tirico’s defense attorney presented evidence that hairspray set off the device not alcohol. A co-founder of the company that makes the anklet testified hairspray is one of the things that could falsely set off the device and with Tirico working in a hair salon; it seemed to make perfect sense to the judge that there was a false alarm
