Most of us spent Christmas Day with our families but Lynn Marie Pierce spent her Christmas in a Sarasota County jail. The North Port woman was arrested on charges of DUI, hit-and-run and driving with an expired license on Christmas Eve. She then compounded it all by trying to bribe her way out of trouble. That led to bribery charges being added to her list of alleged crimes.
According to a story on the Sarasota Herald Tribune website, Pierce ran a stop sign and crashed into another car. She left the scene of the accident and went to her house where officers found her sitting in the front seat of her car. They felt she appeared intoxicated and then discovered her license expired in 1998. After failing field sobriety tests, she was placed under arrest. From the back of a police cruiser, she tried to pay off the arresting officer to let her go. She was released from jail on Christmas Day.
