Heather Dinson pled guilty to DUI manslaughter last month and left her fate in the hands of a Pasco County judge following her second DUI, which resulted in a man’s death. The judge sentenced the 35-year-old to 12 years in prison as he took into account her previous DUI conviction from 1995 as he contemplated her sentence on DUI manslaughter charges. He told her she should have learned from her first DUI and that she didn’t according to a story on TampaBay.com.
The charges stem from a 2007 crash on U.S. 301. Dinson was driving north in the southbound lane when she collided with Jason Hamilton’s 1979 Cadillac. Hamilton died at the scene and five other people were injured. Hamilton’s pregnant fiancé was in a car in front of him and held her future husband on the side of the road.
