The Virginia Senate is scheduled to vote on a bill that will require police officers who pull someone over for suspected drunk driving to ask that person where they had their last drink. The new requirement for DUI stops is meant to target the businesses that send drunk drivers out on to the roads.
The bill has already passed the house and would still require the signature of the governor to make it law. In Virginia it is a misdemeanor to serve alcohol to anyone that is “buzzed” according to a story on NBCWashington.com. The information the officer receivers during the DUI arrest will be passed on to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.
