Last night Manatee County Sheriff’s attempted to stop the driver of a car they suspected was driving drunk. They witnessed a car pull out of a parking lot and into oncoming traffic. The car almost caused a traffic accident. At that point deputies attempted to stop the car for a potential DUI and conduct field sobriety tests.
The driver of the car, 60-year-old Placido Castanada-Floires, did not stop and led deputies on a brief and slow car chase. The officers used “stop sticks” in an attempt to blow out the car’s tires and stop the driver. It eventually worked but not until Castanada-Floires had driven two more blocks. The man, who was driving on a suspended license was arrested and booked into Manatee County jail.
