An erratic driver on U.S. 19 was boxed in by a group of concerned citizens in Port Richey while they waited for the Florida Highway Patrol to arrive on the scene. When the FHP got to the car they found 26-year-old Sharon Dizon attempting to light a cigarette and struggling to get out of her car at the troopers request. After reportedly failing field sobriety tests, Dizon was arrested for DUI and resisting arrest without violence.
The incident started around midnight when driver’s observed a car allegedly driven by Dizon strike a median and become airborne. The car continued driving against traffic before pulling into a parking lot. The driver was confronted by citizens telling her they would call 911 and that she needed to turn her car off. That didn’t stop the driver from taking off once again. She was eventually boxed in by concerned citizens until police arrived.
According to TBO.com Dizon told the FHP trooper she was not driving drunk and was looking for her boyfriend. She slipped out of her handcuffs on more than one occasion during her arrest and became verbally abusive on the ride to Land O’ Lakes Jail. She claimed to be detoxing as well. She posted $150 bail and was released from jail.
