A man who allegedly killed a taxi cab driver while trying to elude the police had a preliminary blood-alcohol level of 0.205. It is also being reported that he had been charged with DUI on four previous occasions prior to this last incident. Brian Ferry, Sr. has now been charged with vehicular homicide, failure to appear, driving with a suspended license resulting in a death and fleeing and eluding resulting in a death.
Ferry is being accused of running a red light and slamming into the back of a cab at Drew Street and Belcher Road killing a 32-year-old Pinellas Park resident. The chase that led to the accident began when Clearwater police tried to arrest Ferry on a warrant for a suspended license charge. Ferry could still be facing drunk driving charges in Pinellas County once official reports come back on his blood-alcohol level.
