Around 8am On July 13th Kerry Kennedy was involved in a crash with a tractor trailer and was later found slumped over the steering wheel of her car by police. After failing multiple field sobriety tests and admitting to possibly taking the sleeping aid ambien she was arrested for DUI.
Today She pleaded not guilty to the charge of Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and blamed the accident on a mild seizure caused by a head injury she had in the past. She also claimed that she had taken a drug test which had shown that no ambien, alcohol, or other drugs were in here system. However, police claim that the results from her blood and urine tests have not been completed yet and that they will have the final results in a few days.
This is not the first time someone has been charged with DUI after taking the prescription sleep aid ambien. Experts say this is a fairly rare occurrence called sleep driving.
